Dr. Kayatri (UM)
Professor
University Malaya
Professional Profile
Dr. Kayatri is a pharmacist and senior academic at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya, currently serving as the Deputy Dean for Postgraduate, Research and Innovation. Her research focuses on stem cell-based interventions in hypertension, integrating systemic physiological responses with gut microbiome interactions to understand multi-level mechanisms of disease modulation.
She leads several in vivo studies exploring mesenchymal stem cells and related biologics in hypertensive models.
Collaboration with Regen Cell Tech
Dr. Kayatri actively collaborates with Regen Cell Tech under a formal Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), driving pioneering work at the intersection of stem cells and gut microbiota in cardiovascular regulation.
Through this partnership, she bridges academic excellence with translational innovation, positioning stem cell–microbiome research as a promising frontier for next-generation hypertension therapies and commercially scalable regenerative solutions.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafeezul bin Mohamed is a Malaysian biomedical scientist and academic at the Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Cancer Center, Universiti Sains Malaysia, where he serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. He holds a BSc and MSc in Biomedical Science from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and a PhD in Cellular Immunology from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom.
Since joining USM in 2013, he has been actively involved in teaching, postgraduate supervision, research, and academic leadership, including roles in departmental administration, scientific committees, and ethics review. His research focuses on cellular immunology, tumor immunology, immunotherapy, stem-cell–immune cell interactions, and cardiovascular immunobiology.
He has secured competitive national research grants and published in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to academic duties, he contributes as a journal reviewer, postgraduate thesis examiner, and research collaborator with industry, positioning himself as a contributor to Malaysia’s biomedical and immunotherapy research landscape.
